GENERAL RESPIRATORY

The British Lung Foundation produces a good range of free information leaflets for patients about respiratory conditions.

Lung Foundation Australia provide resources and fact sheets for patients with COPD and other conditions

 

ASTHMA

Asthma UK has a large amount of information and help for patients with asthma including an advice area with sections entitled – is it asthma?, just diagnosed, asthma attacks, severe asthma, children and young people with asthma and community support. Importantly though you can download asthma plans and asthma review

 

COPD

There are a number of free resources and educational materials available for patients and carers of people with COPD. Here re a few examples:
COPD Foundation is an American no-for-profit organisation whose aim is to expand services and improve the lives of individuals affected by COPD. They have a number of educational materials available for patients here that are free but you need to register for.

The European Lung Foundation has published a living well with COPD fact sheet available here

There are a number of versions of Living Well with COPD workbooks for patients with COPD including one from the ACCP and from Canada available here

IDIOPATHIC PULMONARY FIBROSIS

 

The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation provides patients, caregivers and family members with the resources necessary to more fully understand PF, and to provide patients with the tools necessary to live with the disease and improve their quality of life. Find out more here

 

PULMONARY HYPERTENSION

The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA UK) publishes a number of free information booklets, CDs and DVDs for people affected by pulmonary hypertension (PH). For more details click here

 

THORACIC MALIGNANCY

Macmillan Cancer Support provides information for patients with lung cancer and mesothelioma

The Roy Castle lung Cancer Foundation has a good section called Living with Lung Cancer which provides help and guidance on a number of topics including – Managing Everyday Activities, Coping With Breathlessness, Life After Lung Cancer, If Your Lung Cancer Can’t Be Cured, Financial Help, Travel Insurance.

 

TUBERCULOSIS

TB Alert provides support and information for people affected by TB in the UK and abroad. It provides information leaflets for TB Nurses and other healthcare professionals to give out to patients, covering such topics as diagnosis, treatment, latent TB and multi-drug resistant TB, among others.
